Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers: Introduction to MEP Consulting Day at Wick Fisher White

Philadelphia, PA

On August 28, 2025, Wick Fisher White proudly hosted our first-ever Introduction to MEP Consulting Day at our office in the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Six students from The Baldwin School, Springfield High School, and Archbishop Carroll High School joined us to explore what a career in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering looks like.

The day was led by Senior Project Managers Rachel Innella and Bob Hughes, along with Associate Director Jarret Marks, who guided students through a mix of presentations, hands-on learning, and real-world examples of engineering in action.

Students had the chance to explore:
⚙️ How engineers fit into the construction process
💡 The unique roles of mechanical, electrical, plumbing & fire protection design
🛠️ Hands-on tools like Revit, CAD & Matterport

🎓 The path to becoming a Professional Engineer, including education, experience, and licensure requirements

For many, this was their first introduction to the systems that keep buildings running—from the air we breathe to the lights overhead. The program also emphasized key skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving that engineers use every day.

Our goal was to spark curiosity and encourage students to explore engineering as a future career—and based on their excitement and participation, we believe that seeds of inspiration were planted.

At Wick Fisher White, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of engineers and showing students that they, too, can help design the future of our built environment.

Here’s to the next generation building the world around us!
